Using Midjourney

Easily the most confusing part of Midjourney was figuring out how to use the dang tool. Every other website has these amazing online UIs. Not so with Midjourney; you access it through Discord, a popular social platform.

I’ll assume you have a Discord account. That’s step one.

Next, the easy part is to make an account at Midjourney. Use the link below and click “Join the beta” (no affiliate):

Midjourney

After that, you’ll be directed to the Midjourney Discord. Find a #newbies channel. It doesn’t matter which one. Click on any.

Once signed in, you’ll be redirected to the Welcome section of the Discord.

Once within one of those channels, type /imagine followed by enter. Your typing area should look like this:

Type whatever you want to see. I picked silly cat wearing a tophat

It takes 1-2 minutes to run the prompt. Be patient.

You should get back something like this:

<aside> 💡 Pro tip: There are thousands of messages going through each #newbie channel, so it can be easy to miss the bot replying to you. To see it easier, navigate to the Inbox section at the top right of Discord, and select Mentions.
